Samue and Bushu traditional indigo dyeing

Samue and Bushu indigo dyeing.

Although the origins of these two do not match, the answer to the question of what kind of dye would be appropriate for Samue was the natural vegetable dye, Bushu Sei Aizome. It is now recognized as a traditional craft of Saitama Prefecture and has been loved by many people.

People in Samue

We, Samue people, have our roots in the sales of tabi socks in the Bushu region in what is now the northern part of Saitama Prefecture during the Meiji period.

We first encountered samue in the 1980s, and in order to create the best samue, we focused on vegetable dyeing (natural dyeing) that has continued since the Edo period. I used indigo dyeing. In addition, we have created paper patterns that reproduce ancient Japanese sewing techniques, and have generously incorporated the ease of movement and ease of use unique to Japanese clothing.

The samue, which has a yarn-dyed fabric and an indigo-dyed texture, transforms into the best samue depending on the person who wears it.

Please enjoy the best Samue with your life.
